What the list shows
Each line is one certificate or account, with the profit rate as published. Where the page gives a range, we print the start of the range and point to the full table on the National Savings site.
The rates change when the government revises them, and a certificate you buy keeps the terms printed on it. Check the page for the date before you rely on a figure.
How this differs from a mutual fund
A certificate pays a profit rate set by the issuer for its term. A mutual fund unit has a price that moves with the fund's holdings, and its past return is not a rate anyone has promised.
Tax is withheld at source and depends on your status with the tax authority. Read the current rules on the tax authority's site, because this page does not reprint them.
Comparing a certificate's profit rate with a fund's past return as if both were promised. Only the first is set in advance.
